London Cable breakthrough

Contractor Morgan Sindall recently broke through into an underground cable shaft at the 1.1km point along the 2.6km long, 2.6m i.d. Whitechapel to Finsbury Market cable tunnel currently being built for Client UK Power Networks in East London. The TBM was launched in May and has since progressed 650m with final breakthrough of the £14M project expected in Spring. Read more

Atlas Copco has won a US$10M order to supply equipment for the second phase of Colombia’s largest hydropower project, Ituango. The contract is the biggest received by Atlas Copco Colombia in its 26 years of operation. Read more

Canada’s North LRT hits milestone as tunnels completed

Edmonton’s North LRT reached a milestone on Friday, November 16, as tunnelling crews working on the North Light Rail Transit (LRT) to Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) project broke through the wall at Churchill Station, connecting the North LRT with Edmonton’s existing LRT network. Hong Kong tenders new Boundary Control tunnel

Hong Kong’s Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) has invited tenders for the contract for the road and tunnel works of the $15bn Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point. The works mainly comprise the construction of a dual two-lane trunk road including an approximately 4.8km vehicular tunnel linking up the proposed Sha Tau Kok Road interchange and the Fanling Highway interchange.
