Bouygues wins Qatar Sewage tunnels

The Qatar Public Works Authority has awarded two contracts for the design and construction of sewage tunnels to Bouygues Travaux Publics (a subsidiary of Bouygues Construction), in partnership with a local contractor, UrbaCon Trading & Contracting. The two contracts are worth approximately €550M, of which Bouygues Travaux Publics’ share amounts to roughly €285M. Read more

VolkerStevin contract for Tideway

VolkerStevin has been appointed by the UK’s Thames Water to carry out enabling works, in advance of construction of London’s Thames Tideway Tunnel. Last month VolkerStevin started work on the £23M project which will involve numerous marine construction projects in the city. Read more

Procurement progresses on CBBT’s Parallel Thimble Shoal Tunnel Project

In September, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel Commission (CBBT) selected HNTB to serve as its Construction Manager for the Parallel Thimble Shoal Tunnel Project. The new tunnel will double capacity at one of two tunnel bottlenecks on the 23-mile-long Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, which provides a fixed link between Virginia’s eastern shore and the Norfolk and South Hampton Roads region on the USA’s East Coast. Minneapolis passes municipal consent for Southwest LRT

On a 10-3 vote, Minneapolis City Council was the final local government partner to give consent municipal consent to a revised design and budget for the Southwest LRT project on September 25th, which will extend the Green Line from Target Field to Eden Prairie. The $1.774 billion project will be the state’s most expensive public works project to date. Read more

Lake Mead’s third intake is flooded in preparation for service

Salini Impregilo, through its “Vegas Tunnel Constructors” joint-venture with US subsidiary SA Healy, has started filling the new Lake Mead tunnel with water, the latest milestone towards completing this record-breaking project awarded by the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) in 2008.
