CBE Group celebrates 30th Anniversary
On the 13th of March 2017, CBE Group celebrated 30 years of activity within the tunnelling industry. To celebrate this anniversary, a group of employees will perform a 45km long relay race on the 17th March, from l’Ile Bouchard, its production site, to Saint-Avertin, headquarters of the company.
This race will be followed by a meal for all company employees, where Didier Lefebvre, CEO, will speak about the history of the company and its singular status, as a French SME which is successful worldwide.
As part of the 30th anniversary, CBE Group will organize two other events through the year, one for its agents and the other for its customers, during the AFTES convention (French Association of Tunnelling and Underground Space) in November 2017 in Paris.
CBE Group was created in 1987, as a company specialising in the engineering and the manufacturing of steel moulds, precast factories and maintenance equipment to manufacture concrete segments for tunnels. CBE Group won its first project during that same year, the Channel Tunnel, connecting France to the UK.
CBE Group achieved international status swiftly and was involved in the construction of several tunnels on every continent, such as the subways of Lisbon, Budapest, Moscow, Cairo, Sydney.
In 2009, CBE Group opened a plant in Yangling, China, in order to maximise its presence in the Asian market. In 2010, the company bought ACIMEX, an expert in the lifting of heavy loads using the vacuum technology, allowing CBE Group to extend its offerings. In 2013, CBE Group also created APS (Advanced Precast Systems), to diversify its offer in term of concrete precast moulds.
Today, CBE Group is active worldwide. Its most recent projects include the Follo Line in Norway (19km of road tunnel connecting the cities of Oslo and Ski), The Quito Subway in Ecuador, and The Shanghai Subway.
