An AECOM-led consortium has been awarded a contract by the New South Wales Government to plan and design the North West Rail Link in Sydney, Australia. The project includes six new stations over a 22.4km addition to the CityRail network from Epping to Rouse Hill in North West Sydney. The project’s 15km of tunnels between Epping and Kellyville will be the longest rail tunnels ever constructed in Sydney.
The consortium also includes Parsons Brinckerhoff, Grimshaw Architects and Cox Architects.
Under the contract, AECOM is the lead technical advisor with responsibility for engineering, rail systems and architecture. The company will deliver planning, project definition, design definition, systems assurance, design concept approval, reference design, contract documentation and tender assessment phases.
“AECOM is very excited to play a key role in the most significant expansion of Sydney’s rail network in decades,” said John M. Dionisio, AECOM president and chief executive officer. “This major award leverages AECOM’s multidisciplinary expertise and global experience in rail systems development, and we look forward to supporting the continuing development of the CityRail network.”
