Ramboll has just welcomed Alun Thomas to their tunnelling team based in Copenhagen. Alun will head the development of their tunnel business, with an initial focus on strengthening Ramboll’s position in the market for immersed tunnels on a global level.

“With a starting point of such world class tunnel references as the Fehmarn tunnel and Oresund projects, Alun Thomas will build our market position and make contact with more international customers,” explained Ib Enevoldsen, Ramboll’s Director of Transport.

Alun Thomas holds a PhD in tunnel engineering and has written a book on Sprayed Concrete Lined tunnels, as well as contributing to industry standards such as the BTS Specification. He has worked internationally with design and construction of tunnels since 1994, most recently the Crossrail project and the Bataapati Radioactive Waste Repository. He comes from a position as Deputy Manager of Mott MacDonald’s office Budapest and has worked as a specialist and project manager on projects in more than 10 countries.”
