Transport Infrastructure Ireland has announced the appointment of Atkins, a member of the SNC Lavalin Group to commence the detailed design of the Advance Works programme for Dublin’s MetroLink Project. Atkins will lead the Advance Works programme for MetroLink with their team based in the Dublin office.
THe MetroLink route is a mostly underground 19.4km rail route, with 16 stations on opening, between the Swords area and Charlemont in the south Dublin City Centre. Currently the tunnel is envisaged as a single tube of 9.5m diameter.
Over the coming year Atkins will develop the detailed design and tender documents for a programme of Advance Works contracts to precede the main infrastructure works. These works will achieve a level of site readiness to facilitate mobilisation of MetroLink’s main infrastructure works. The programme of Advance Works is comprised of seven contracts including works such as utility diversions, archaeological and heritage works, facilitation of land access and environmental monitoring.
