TAM-Normet has announced that Bethan Haig has joined their team as a Project Manager for Tunnelling & Mining in the UK. Bethan, a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 6 years experience in the design of tunnels with Mott MacDonald, comes directly from working on the C121 Sprayed Concrete Lining design contract of Crossrail.

Bethan’s design experience includes the primary linings of the A3 Hindhead road tunnels, using the numerical modeling techniques subsequently further developed for the Crossrail lining design. Bethan was able to witness the implementation of this design and construction approach at close quarters, as an engineering geologist at the face of the Hindhead tunnels.

Bethan’s Crossrail experiences include working in the team that identified the state of the art solutions appropriate for integration into the SCL lining design, working with London Underground to ensure compatibility with their standards and developing the specifications for construction.

Bethan is an active member of the British Tunnelling Society Young Members Group and works to promote careers in engineering to the next generation as a Stemnet Ambassador, supervising Headstart courses.

“Bethan has already established herself as an innovative tunnelling engineer in the UK, and this, coupled with her proactive helpful style, will bring enormous benefit to the construction teams seeking up-front efficient technical solutions. Her inclusion in our team ensures that TAM-Normet now has the most complete UK support team to support this exciting industry” comments Ross Dimmock, Regional Director for TAM.
