Romanian media has reported a partial road collapse on the City Center to Drumul Taberei stretch of the Bucharest Metro Line 5. The road is damaged in the Eroilor area, one of the capital’s busiest residential areas. Contractors have poured some 190cum of concrete to stabilize the area whilst heavy monitoring checks for possible settlement.Possible structural damage to residential buildings has also been reported leading to the evacuation and temporary re-location of 14 people on Sunday. Romania’s Transport Ministry has indicated that the events are associated with water and mud drainage following TBM breakthrough into the underground Heroes Station at Eroilor. The Drumul Taberei – Eroilor section of the Metro is being built by a JV of Astaldi/FCC Construccion/Delta ACM/AB Construct.

The project is being financed by EU funds with total contract awards totalling €585M thus far.
