“Clif joined Bachy Soletanche in 1990, spending three decades within the wider Soletanche Bachy Group where he played a key role in developing grout injection technologies and processes. Clif’s reputation was second to none – he was the person you called upon to help develop and successfully deliver your scheme.  This was reflected in the numerous projects he worked on, in over 20 different countries, across just about every Continent.

“Clif gained 15 years’ experience on major UK projects such as the Thames Barrier, Jubilee Line, Channel Tunnel Rail Link, Crossrail, Lee Tunnel, and most recently, Thames Tideway Tunnel. In addition to these major infrastructure projects, Clif applied his technical knowledge and expertise on over 25 dams across the world.

“During his time in the geotechnical industry, Clif was responsible for developing a generation of engineers, sharing his knowledge, experience and time with anyone who crossed his path.  He authored numerous technical papers, contributed to academic literature and presented at global conferences.  His contribution was deservedly recognised in 2018 when the British Geotechnical Association (BGA) awarded him the John Mitchell Award, an achievement he took great pride in.

“The knowledge he has shared with the engineers of today will undoubtedly help to shape the future of the geotechnical industry and ensure his legacy lives on.

“Our immediate thoughts are with Clif’s family, friends, colleagues and all those that knew him.

“Thank you for the memories Clif, rest in peace.”
