Large-diameter dual-channel slurry TBM “CREC 1503” manufactured by CREG (China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Co., Ltd.) has successfully completed its Factory Acceptance Test. The 10.49m diameter slurry TBM has a direct discharge pipe channel and screw conveyor channel to discharge slurry and is equipped with a 5m-class telescopic main drive system, which CREG says achieves a new breakthrough in TBM core technologies.
With a total length of appropriately 124m, the slurry TBM will be used to bore a drainage tunnel over a 1.5km stretch from the Longgang district to Luohu district in Shenzhen city. The alignment traverses mainly complex ground conditions composed of weakly weathered granite and sandstone, and a steep V-shaped sloping section with a maximum downhill gradient of 79.5‰ and a maximum uphill gradient of 59.3‰. Additionally, deep overburden, high water pressure, multiple fracture zones, and tight curves (R400m) must be managed.
To address the above challenges, the dual-channel slurry TBM is equipped with a series of targeted designs, such as the “direct discharge pipe + screw conveyor” dual-channel slurry discharge methods, and the “rubber wrapped gantry wheel + anti-sliding system” for safe tunnelling through the large gradient section, improving the construction efficiency and working environment, CREG adds.
As a major project in Shenzhen, the Shawan River Interception and Drainage Project is expected to further enhance the water quality and safety of the drinking water source in the Shenzhen Reservoir, improve flood control and drainage standards of the Shenzhen River Basin, and ensure that rainwater and floods below a 50-year recurrence interval in the Shawan River Basin do not flow into the Shenzhen Reservoir, thereby playing a crucial role in the safeguarding of the residents livelihoods.
