On January 29, Canada’s Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure announced the official award of the CA$889 million contract to design, build and finance Vancouver’s Evergreen Line to EGRT Construction, a consortium led by SNC-Lavalin.

This follows a Thursday October 4th, 2012, announcement that SNC-Lavalin had been selected as the preferred proponent for the  Rapid Transit project. EGRT Construction includes SNC-Lavalin Inc., Graham Building Services, International Bridge Technologies Inc., Jacobs Associates Canada Corporation, Rizzani de Eccher Inc., S.E.L.I. Canada Inc., SNC-Lavalin Constructors (Pacific) Inc., SNC-Lavalin Constructors (Western) Inc., and MMM Group Ltd.

EGRT Construction will build the elevated and at-grade guideways, a two-kilometre tunnel, seven stations, power substations, train operating systems and parking facilities, as well as a vehicle-storage and light maintenance facility. Major construction is scheduled to begin in February.
