ITA launches the ITA Tunnelling Awards 2020 6th Edition

ITA is now calling for new candidates to apply for the 6th edition of the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Awards, to be held towards the end of this year with the exact date and venue to be released soon.

For this edition, some changes are proposed in the categories with notably a category “Overcoming the challenge” for projects which dealt with either foreseen or unforeseen extreme challenges during excavation and construction, and another catagory named “Oddities of the Underground” celebrating the creativity, ingenuity, and imagination of the human spirit in its endeavors underground.

‍The ITA 2020 Awards follow on from the success of the first five editions of the ITA Tunnelling and Underground Space awards, in Switzerland, Singapore, France, China and USA

‍This year the Entries can be submitted in 7 categories:

·   Major Project of the Year – over €500 million

·   Project of the Year – between €50 million & €500 million

·   Project of the Year incl. Renovation – up to €50 million

·   Technical Innovation of the Year

·   Overcoming the Challenge

·   Oddities of the Underground

·   Young Tunneller of the Year

 

‍Entries can be submitted through a dedicated website:

Nominations for the different categories must be related to projects for which the major civil engineering work was completed between 1st January 2018 and 1st April 2020
The Young Tunneller of the Year rewards an individual born after 1st January 1986 and who has brought an outstanding contribution to tunnelling.
