Italian construction firm Cmc di Ravenna has won a €165 million (US$191 million) contract for the excavation of 24kms of water supply tunnels and transfer lines in Beirut, Lebanon.
The contract was awarded by the Council for Development and Reconstruction, Beirut (Lebanon), and will be partially financed by the World Bank.
The tunnels will be excavated by two tunnel boring machines, bringing the number of TBMs being operated by the company, both in Italy and abroad, in 2015 up to a total of 16.
Last year, CMC won new orders worth approximately €1.2 billion (US$1.39 billion), of which €750 million (US$869 million) pertains to the international market.
