Media reports published today, including the Sydney Morning Herald story (see ‘Class action targets Airport Link builder” in TJ’s News Tracker: http://www.smh.com.au/business/class-action-targets-airport-link-builder-20110901-1jmrl.html), in which the newspaper reports that Law firm Maurice Blackburn has issued a call for shareholders to join a $400M suit against the construction giant over its handling of profit downgrades and a shock write-down on key projects, have prompted Leighton to issue the following statement:

“Leighton Holdings is aware of today’s media reports suggesting that Maurice Blackburn is preparing to commence a class action on behalf of certain shareholders in relation to the forecast profit downgrade announced on 11 April 2011.  Leighton has not yet been served with any proceedings. Leighton is aware of various public statements made by Maurice Blackburn in relation to the nature of claims. Leighton will vigorously defend claims of the nature described in those statements.”
