OHL Canada has submitted the apparent low bid on Toronto Transit Commission’s (TTC) Highway 407 Station and Northern Tunnel’s contract, for the CA$2.63 billion Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension (TYSSE). OHL’s $404,387,000.00 bid came out ahead of a number of other bids including: Dragados Canada/Ellis Don JV at $409,870,000.00; and Kenaiden/Obayashi/Flatiron JV at $459,721,000.00.

The Sheppard West Station and Southern Tunnels contract was officially awarded to Aecon Buildings on Thursday, 18 November. Aecon Buildings – along with its tunnel subcontracting JV of McNally, Kiewit and Aecon Constructors – won the contract with a bid of CA$279,078,688 million.

The winning teams will use four client procured Lovat EPBMs and a client procured pre-cast segmental tunnel lining (built to specifications drafted by project-wide tunnel designer Hatch Mott MacDonald) to extend the Spadina subway line northwards from the existing Downsview Station to the new Finch West station (see NATJ, Oct/Nov, p12).

Award of four further separate station construction contracts, are expected to follow over the coming month.
