PB upbeat over Sydney cancellation – TJ exclusive

With regards to global consultant, Parsons Brinckerhoff’s involvement with the now scrapped Sydney Metro, PB’s Director of Transport, Mark Keogh, exclusively told Tunnelling Journal,

“The cancellation of the Sydney Metro project was disappointing as we saw the project had the capacity to transform this city.”

“Regardless of the Government’s decision, the main part of PB’s work on the project was nearing completion. With the reference design complete, it was really ‘business as usual’ for the project demobilisation program. This was always scheduled to start by March and so in this sense, there’s no ‘losses to make up’.”

“Our client (Sydney Metro) has recognised that PB, in conjunction with our partners, exceeded both program and quality expectations in what has arguably been the most demanding Government delivery program ever attempted in Australia.”

“There’s no doubt the experience and skills the team have gained on the Sydney Metro project will be put to good use on the numerous projects PB is involved in and will be in the future. Yes, PB is looking to work on other projects in the NSW transport plan.”
