Qatar win for Impregilo

Impregilo has won the tender issued by the Public Works Authority of Qatar for the design and build of a 9.5km long storm water drainage tunnel for the collection of the surface and groundwater in the city of Doha, capital of Qatar. The contract has a value of approximately US$130M.

The project involves the construction of the main 9.5km water collection  tunnel with an excavation diameter of 4.5m, and the construction of 21 access shaft. The excavation of the tunnel will be executed with the use of two TBMs, with all works completed in about four years.

Impregilo is currently involved in Abu Dhabi in the construction of much of the STEP Project (Strategic Tunnel Enhancement Program), a 40km long hydraulic tunnel. Impregilo is involved with the construction of 25km of its length. The project will allow the collection to a treatment plant of the city waste water.
