SEALABLE Solutions GmbH’s sealing solutions for tunnel construction are now equipped with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). The EPD is a standardized, independently verified document that captures the environmental impact of a product across its entire lifecycle. From raw material extraction to production and disposal, every environmental aspect is comprehensively documented. It offers a transparent framework for comparing products based on their sustainability.

Construction projects must not only meet functional and economic requirements but also adhere to strict ecological standards. With the EPD for SEALABLE Solutions GmbH’s sealing solutions, planners, engineers, and contractors are provided with a valuable tool to make informed decisions and minimize the environmental impact of their projects.”

Oliver Pasemann, Head of Research & Development Tunnelling at SEALABLE Solutions GmbH, further explains: “Sustainability plays an increasingly significant role in international tunnel construction. This includes all the products involved, such as our tunnel segment seals. It is crucial to understand the ecological footprint of our products, as only then can it be analyzed and continuously optimized to reduce environmental impacts and improve sustainability and competitiveness.”

The certification confirms that SEALABLE’s sealing solutions offer customers a clear understanding of the products’ environmental attributes. This not only facilitates the planning of sustainable construction projects but also complies with the standards of modern certification systems such as LEED and DGNB, says SEALABLE.

Matthias Klug, Managing Director of SEALABLE, emphasizes the importance of this development: “The successful completion of the EPD is another milestone on our path to creating sustainable solutions for tunnel construction. This certificate underscores our commitment to transparency and environmental responsibility.”
