Singapore shortlists multiple EPB supplier for DTL 3

Singapore’s LTA has shortlisted 7 TBM manufacturers for the supply of 10 x 6.6m – 6.8m diameter, owner procured EPBMS for the Downtown Line 3 Package A and B. The shortlisted are:

Herrenknecht (Package A -S$39,913,347. Package B – S$71,415,712)

Hitachi Zosen (Package A – S$95,639,000)

Kawasaki Heavy Industries – (Package A – S$51,570,900. Package B – S$97,854,200)

Lovat – (Package A – S$80,111.572. Package B – S$131,061,622.96)

NFM Technologies – (Package A – S$56,090,400. Package B – S$109,240,040)

Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co – (Package A – S$38,628,830. Package B – S$66,711,098.44)

The Robbins Company – (Package A – S$40,845,000 Package B – S$75,980,000)

The LTA’s Downtown Line 3 is a 21km long, fully underground line with 16 stations. Currently plans see up to 29 TBMs working on the tunnels, with multiple drives between the stations. The project has been split into 3 sections, CT1, CT2 and CT3. CT1 will feature four of the owner procured TBMs, and CT3 will use the other six. The remaining TBMs will be procured by the successful contractors. Award of the 18 main civils contracts is envisaged between February and August this year with tunnelling scheduled to start in mid-late 2012.
