TJ Exclusive – Alan Myers joins Hong Kong's MTR

Alan Myers, Halcrow’s former Director of Major Projects has joined Hong Kong’s MTR Projects Division as Chief Civil Construction Engineer. Working under MTR’s Projects Director, TC Chew, Myers will be charged with providing a general overview and independent perspective of the corporation’s US$23bn of rail expansion plans that include the construction of five major new lines totaling some 50km linear length tunnel (TJ June/July).

Myers has a wealth of experience having worked for 12 years as contractor, Balfour Beatty’s Tunnelling Director, and as the consultant, Halcrow’s Director of Major Projects from 1998 until April this year.

His major projects include High Speed 1, the Heathrow Express Tunnel, The Channel Tunnel, and the Hong Kong Mass Transit.

Myers was also inducted into the Construction Industry Awards ‘Hall of Fame’ 2009, for outstanding achievements to the industry and was former runner up in the ‘Civil Engineering Manager of the Year.’
