Société des grands projets has awarded Webuild, in JV with its French partner NGE, a €1.38bn contract to construct Lot 2 of the Western section of Line 15 of the Grand Paris Express.
The new contract involves the design and construction of four underground stations, approximately 7km of tunnels excavated by TBMs and six functional structures between the Pont de Sèvres and Saint- Denis Pleyel stations. All works will be carried out by Webuild in joint venture with NGE, Equans France and TSO.
The project will spearhead eco-design principles to reduce the environmental impact of works during the construction phase, and later in operation. Low carbon concrete with will be used, and materials with a lower environmental impact will be chosen over others (i.e. bio-based, recycles, local and regional). Vegetation will play a significant role in the stations, as it will guarantee biodiversity: 50% of the trees used will be native species and the roofing will include greenery.
Line 15, which at 75km will be France’s longest metro line, will circle Paris like a huge ring, with 36 stations crossing 45 municipalities and four departments of the Île-de-France, with 95% of the new lines connecting to the existing transport network, including Transilien services, RER, metros, tramways, and buses.
The Grand Paris Express has been designed as a sustainable mobility option that will improve the life quality for the whole of Paris, integrating the suburbs with the city centre. In its entirety, it will feature 200km of lines and 68 stations with almost 90% built underground. When finished it will transport more than 3M people every day.
