Shannon & Wilson and the University of Washington’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering are pleased to present the 2014 Stanley D Wilson Memorial Lecturer: Dr Harvey Parker.  His presentation, “Tunneling is Up by Leaps and Bounds – High Tech, Safe, & Sustainable”, will discuss the innovations and advancements that make tunneling today high tech, safe, cost competitive, and a strong contributor to sustainable development.

Dr Parker has consulted on the design and construction of numerous national and international tunnels of all sizes, types, and geology including Seattle’s Sound Transit & Alaskan Way Viaduct Tunnels, Water Tunnel 3 in New York, and San Francisco’s transit tunnels. Dr Parker is a recognized leader in the tunneling industry and is especially active in the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA) where he served as President for 3 years.

The lecture will be held Thursday, April 3rd in Room 220 of Kane Hall on the University of Washington Campus in Seattle, starting at 5:30 pm.  Reception to follow in Room 225 (Walker Ames Room).  Please RSVP to Shannon & Wilson by March 24th at rsvpsea@shanwil.com or (206) 695-6774. Free to the public.

The Stanley D. Wilson Memorial Lecture was established in 1989 to foster and maintain the spirit of thoughtful and practical engineering solutions.
