Peru’s private investment promotion agency ProInversión has launched the tender for a US$400 milion Lima potable water concession. The project has three major components: a 10km trans-Andean tunnel to transfer water from the Pomacocha lagoon to the Blanco river; the upgrade of the Huachipa potable water plant to produce 5m³/s; and the construction of the 25.6km south branch water uptake and distribution pipeline to deliver water to Lima’s southern districts.
In addition the project also includes the expansion of the Pomacocha and Huallacocha Bajo reservoirs as well as other complementary works.
The 30-year concession includes the design, financing, building, operating and maintenance of the project.
Interested parties have 60 days to submit questions regarding the terms of the contract and ProInversión aims to award the project by the end of 2014.
