Wayss & Freytag secures Frankfurt tunnel contract

Wayss & Freytag, Royal BAM Group’s German tunnelling specialist, has won a joint venture contract for the construction of the Europagarten Tunnel, in Frankfurt, Germany.The client is aurelis Asset GmbH in Eschborn, represented by aurelis Real Estate GmbH & Co. The contract value to Wayss & Freytag is approximately €21 million. The construction works will start this month and it is expected that the tunnel will be completed in August 2016.

The new tunnel is situated in the heart of the new European district and will divert traffic and trams beneath the Europagarten city park. The project includes construction of three tunnel bores of 395m in length. The consortium is also responsible for the construction of the control rooms, road construction and all M & E tunnel systems in the two outer tunnel bores for road traffic.
