Final Technical and Price Proposals Received for Parallel Thimble Shoal Tunnel

On April 29, Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel District received three design-build Final Technical Proposals and Price Proposals for the Parallel Thimble Shoal Tunnel Project. Each came in at more than $1 billion, with the lowest proposal $292 million higher than the $724.4 million project estimate. Read more

Terratec to deliver 9.86m TBM to India

TERRATEC has announced the delivery of a new 9.86m diameter Hard Rock Double Shield TBM to SELI Overseas S.p.A., following successful factory testing on 12th April, 2016, for use on the Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydropower Project in India. Read more

Second Follo Line TBM complete

The second of four 9.9m diameter Herrenknecht Double Shield TBMs to be used by the Acciona/Ghella JV on Norway’s Follo Line is now complete and has been recently approved. The final two TBMs are still in assembly at the Herrenknecht plant in Schwanau. Read more

Costain project services contract for Humber tunnel

Costain has been awarded the project services contract to deliver the replacement of the UK’s $160M Humber Estuary Crossing for power company National Grid. The pipeline will connect to the existing National Grid AGI sites at Paull and Goxhill and will be 5.4km long, of which 5km will be tunnelled by TBM. Read more

The JV led by VINCI Construction Grands Projets, alongside Bouygues Construction’s subsidiary Bouygues Travaux Publics and their Egyptian partners Orascom Construction and Arab Contractors, has won the Phase 3 contract for Line 3 of the Cairo metro. Read more
