Specialists with the SK MOST Group of Companies are completing assembly of the 6.15m diameter Herrenknecht TBM which will drive the 1.8km long left interstation tunnel between subway stations Lermontovsky Prospekt and Vykhino on the Moscow Metro. Tunnelling is scheduled to begin in June.

The parts of the shield were delivered from Germany, after which assembly work was started. The cutterhead was assembled on May 22. Liebherr LTM 1500 and Liebherr LTM 1220 lifting cranes were used for the assembly.

The tunnel, driven from Lermontovsky Prospekt station to Vykhino station, will feature a reinforced concrete lining.
